A leading business consultant with a soft spot for glam rock has been named as deputy chair of Plus Dane Group.

Strategy specialist Catrina Hewitson, who has been on the boards of the Merseyside and Cheshire Neighbourhood investor since 2003, said she was "thrilled" to be taking up the role.

Liverpool-born Catrina has worked with some of Britain’s biggest companies and organisations, including the BBC, Tesco, Unilever, Time Warner and within Whitehall.

One of her first jobs will be exploring opportunities for new partnerships between the Neighbourhood investor and other progressive organisations and businesses.

"Housing has long been a passion of mine," she said. "I’m a city girl and my work is about how people and organisations fulfil their potential – good housing and great neighbourhoods are fundamental to that.

"Plus Dane is fantastic at creating solutions and it will be about choosing the right ones to focus on at a time when government policy is taking the housing sector into unprecedented areas of challenge and opportunity."

Plus Dane Group’s Chief Executive Ken Perry said: "Catrina has years of experience as a board member within the group and has chaired a number of our key committees, outside of Plus Dane she is a highly successful businesswoman who works with many blue chip organisations.  Her appointment to deputy chair will further strengthen the strategic competence of the board."

Catrina, who is married and has three teenage children, spends her spare time indulging a passion for the arts. She particularly enjoys live music and her musical heroes are David Bowie, Roxy Music and The Osmonds.

She is also deep in training for the Liverpool marathon in October, her first such race and the fulfilment of a bet made with her brother.

Catrina replaces Nigel Hodges, who is stepping down.
