11.09.2015

Plus Dane Housing has teamed up with the Everybody Sport & Recreation Trust and Cheshire East Council’s Health Improvement Team to offer 30 FREE places to tenants.

Health Trainer is a successful and bespoke programme that is part of Everybody Healthy which is headed by the Everybody Sport & Recreation Trust. The programme provides confidential and personalised one-to-one and group support for a 12 week period to people who want to improve their health and wellbeing.

The programme is designed for people who have one or more of the following; cardiac related condition, overweight BMI > 28 or above, type 2 diabetes (medicated or diet), long-term inactivity and people who are experiencing low to medium mental health problems. Specialist staff (Health Trainers) at the Everybody Sport & Recreation Trust use a range of behaviour change techniques to help people make positive and sustainable lifestyle changes to their health and wellbeing. The programme specifically helps people to eat more healthily, lose weight, increase their physical activity, stop smoking and improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Usman Ashiq, Health & Wellbeing Officer at Plus Dane Housing added: “we are pleased to offer this personalised programme to our tenants in order to make a real difference to their lives and to the neighbourhoods which we serve. The programme actively aims to reduce health inequalities as well as the social determinants of health. We look forward to supporting our tenants living in Congleton and also aim to reach out to other Cheshire East areas in the near future”.
