Over 2,500 children taking part in Plus Dane’s Active Kids programme

Plus Dane has developed a bespoke healthy lifestyles programme targeted at primary school children to offer a range of exciting and educational sessions to aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The programme is based on the five ways to wellbeing and includes a wide range of areas including healthy eating, healthy minds, sport and exercise, the importance of sleeping and rest, fruit and veg, and much more.

It has been delivered in five primary schools across East Cheshire in Middlewich, Alsager, Sandbach and Congleton since October 2014 and has been popular amongst children, staff and parents alike. The  programme has to date delivered over 110 sessions, over 40% tenant involvement and attended by over 2,680 children in reception and all six year groups.

Usman Ashiq, Plus Dane’s Health and Wellbeing Officer who has worked to develop the programme, said: “We are really pleased to offer primary schools in some of our key neighbourhoods with this innovative healthy lifestyle programme, which enables us to offer wide ranging health and wellbeing provision in an informative and fun way. We have been able to deliver this work thanks to our partnership with Cheshire East Council along with two specialist physical activity providers, and we are delighted with its success so far.”
