Plus Dane Group is backing Merseyside Black History Month by signing up as a premier sponsor of this year’s month of celebrations.

Merseyside Black History Month promotes and celebrates black heritage, history and arts in a packed programme of events during October. Organised by the Merseyside Black History Month Group, the programme is one of the largest in the country and attracts visitors from all over the UK.

It is widely supported by local businesses in recognition of the valuable contribution of black culture to the city.
As a premier sponsor, Plus Dane Group is putting its support behind the month-long series of events, which include the popular Culture Food Feast and the Black Achievers Awards, as well as hosting its own gala dinner as part of the celebrations.

The fundraising event aims to encourage Plus Dane staff, partners and local businesses to bid against each other to win a range of top prizes, all to raise money for a good cause. Prizes ranging from a day trip in Dublin to signed football shirts,  will all be auctioned off at an evening of entertainment taking place at the Albert Dock’s East z East on Friday 19th October.

The event has been organised by a team of volunteers from across Plus Dane who have given their time for free, with all money raised going toward supporting young people living at two accommodation support schemes, Anne Conway House in Liverpool and Hungerford Road in Crewe.

Anne Lundon, Income and New Opportunities Manager at Plus Dane Group and Chair of Plus Dane’s Race Equality Group, said:

“Plus Dane is committed to promoting diversity and celebrating the significant achievements of the culturally diverse communities and individuals in the neighbourhoods in which we work, which is why we are pleased to put our support behind this year’s black history celebrations.

“We are also delighted to be contributing to the programme of events with our own fundraising gala dinner, for which we have been overwhelmed with support from our staff, partners and local businesses who have all contributed time, resources and prizes to help us raise awareness and money for a great cause.”
